Table Tennis Dimensions

International table tennis federation laws and regulations typically determine ping pong table dimensions for most standard professional ping pong tables that are used in tournament play.

A ping pong table that is used in competitions should measure nine feet by five feet, and should stand two feet, six inches off the ground. The surface can be made of any material as long as its uniform bounce is about 8 ¾ inches when a ball dropped from a height of 12 inches.

Ping pong table dimensions can vary in a number of more compact models intended for home use. If you are building your own ping pong table, remember the top should be level and smooth. A net should be placed in the center of the ping pong table. In official play, the net should be six inches high, and another line should divide the ping pong table in half so you can play doubles.

Remember when building or deciding on a ping pong table that your ping pong table dimensions need to work with the size of the room you plan on playing in and allow plenty of room for freedom of movement.  Table tennis is a fast paced, action sport!
